About Us

The Happy Children's Montessori was established in 1995.

We are a Christian Montessori school for children ages 3 to 6 years. Our goal is to provide a program which helps each child to grow academically, socially and spiritually.

The Montessori program is a hands-on, individualized program in which children are encouraged to learn at their own pace in the areas which interest them most.

The areas of the classroom include art expression, practical life (i.e., handwashing, pouring, polishing, sewing, dressing frames, hammering and more), sensorial (in this area the children use materials that help them to differentiate between different dimensions, colors, sounds, smells and touch), math, language, science, geography, botany, zoology, history, French and music ( our song selections are from standard children's songs, Bible songs for children and French songs).

Other important skills learned in a Montessori classroom are self-directedness, concentration and focusing skills, a strong sense of responsibility, respect for oneself, one's environment and the people in one's environment.

The social part of the program encourages children to use respectful conflict resolution skills with one another. We use grace and courtesy lessons to teach manners, proper handling of materials, respect of one's classmate's work and work space and respect of the environment. We always stress the importance of treating each other and the materials in the classroom with respect and kindness.

The Christian aspect of the program introduces children to Christian values and principles as they are laid out in the Bible. Each child learns that he or she has been beautifully and wonderfully made and is loved deeply by God. Each month we explore a new theme. Some past themes have been joy, love, honesty, forgiveness and our neighbor. The children are then taught Bible verses on a weekly basis which coincide with the theme of the month. We then discuss ways to apply these principles to our daily lives.

”Heather instills in the children such a sense of self-confidence and quiet capability that most parents are completely astonished by what their children can accomplish.”  Nayoko E.

"This Montessori school is so much more than your average preschool, daycare or child care center.  You just have to go and see for yourself.  The education this school provides is unlike any I have ever seen.  Heather brings out the best in every child."  Lynn K.
